About the Brazilian Butt Lift
Our skilled team of plastic surgeons at Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Reston, VA performs countless Brazilian Butt Lifts every year. The term 'Brazilian Butt Lift' usually means doing liposuction of one area of the body and transferring this liposuctioned fat to the buttocks. The concept of injecting the fat to another area of the body is sometimes called fat grafting or fat transfer. The most common area of liposuction for a Brazilian Butt Lift is the flank area, but fat can be harvested from other areas of the body as well. Contrast this procedure to a surgical butt lift, which is when a scar is placed along the top of the buttocks to remove extra skin and lift the buttocks.
A Brazilian Butt Lift utilizes a patient's own fat to augment the buttocks instead of using silicone implants for a more natural look. It is often performed in conjunction with a tummy tuck to maximize the curves of the buttocks and bring in the waistline at the same time for a fuller profile. The results can be as subtle or impressive as the patient wants, and the surgeons at Austin-Weston pride themselves as listeners who do their best to make patients happy.
Candidates for the Brazilian Butt Lift get the best of both worlds with this butt augmentation surgery since it slims other areas and adds sensual volume to the buttocks. Best candidates will have the following:
- Excellent skin elasticity in the buttocks area
- Enough fatty tissue available for liposuction
- Overall good health
- Realistic expectations of the fat transfer
Brazilian Butt Lift Reviews
"22 Year Old, Brazilian Butt Lift, Lipo from Abdomen Flanks and Back - I was extremely nervous the morning of my surgery because I hadn't seen my doctor since my consultation months earlier. As soon as I met with him my fears were dismantled. He asked me what I was looking for as well as telling me what he planned to do for me and the nurses were extremely kind and helpful as well. He even called my support person after I left the surgery center to make sure I was adjusting well at home."- J. / RateMDs / Jan 20, 2017

What to Expect
The Brazilian Butt Lift is an outpatient procedure performed in our accredited surgical facility (under general anesthesia). The procedure may last for several hours or longer if there are multiple areas of fat to be liposuctioned. The incisions made for the Brazilian Butt Lift are small and dependent on the areas having liposuction. The fat is injected in the different layers of the buttocks with a syringe. Once the procedure is done and the patient is in the recovery room, we recommend no prolonged sitting for 4-6 weeks to allow the fat to 'take' properly and begin to live in its new location. The amount of 'take' of the grafts is evident by 6 – 8 weeks and final post operative photographs are taken around 3 months.
Many patients choose a Brazilian Butt Lift because they want their new curves to look and feel natural, plus they do not want an implant. While the buttocks will at first appear large and swollen, the swelling resides over the first few weeks and some of the grafted fat is also reabsorbed by the body. For this reason, patients wanting maximum buttocks volume sometimes choose to undergo more than one fat grafting session. Patients should keep in mind that any major fluctuations in weight (gain or loss) will affect the aesthetics of the surgery. Limitations of the Brazilian Butt Lift are with patients who do not have enough fat for grafting, and for patients who have a very tight buttocks skin envelope as it may not fit as much fat as they desire in a single session.
