Pain Management: Low-Narcotic Protocol

By: Austin-Weston

Anyone considering cosmetic surgery is understandably concerned about how they will manage their pain after their procedure. We all want to achieve the best possible results with the least amount of downtime and pain possible. Patients need to be realistic about their tolerance for pain, however, pain management has evolved over the years in a positive way with a low-narcotic protocol.

Our anesthetic techniques with local anesthesia have been refined and made so much better delivering high-quality anesthesia with less nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. We administer a group of medications that when used around the surgery nearly eliminate the need for narcotics during and after surgery.

Taking the stressful thoughts of difficulty managing post-operative pain out of the equation for a cosmetic surgery procedure is a major worry relief for our patients. It's something that surgeons have strived for since the beginning of surgical time. While there will be some discomfort associated with almost any procedure, the word "pain" is rarely heard anymore. The introduction of our non-narcotic protocol to the surgery here at Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery, has made an already pleasant experience one that is truly exceptional.
