About Radiesse

Today there are multiple dermal fillers available for you to use to get a more youthful, refreshed appearance. The Radiesse injectable wrinkle treatment offered by our board-certified Reston, VA plastic surgeons is wonderful for mild and moderate wrinkles and lines on the face, and for fixing volume loss in the hands. Women and men who don't have time for frequent appointments appreciate the lasting results (over a year in many cases) of Radiesse. With microspheres of calcium hydroxyapatite in a flexible gel, Radiesse fills and smoothes the appearance of your face without the time and expense of surgery. Radiesse is approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) to safely and effectively improve your face. Radiesse may be used with other injectable treatments (wrinkle fillers and relaxers) for a unique procedure to rejuvenate your appearance. Look refreshed and raise your self-image with Radiesse injectable wrinkle treatments at Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Reston, VA.

Ideal Candidates

Women and men who are in good general health and want to correct their mild to moderate wrinkles and lines are ideal patients for Radiesse treatments. It can improve marionette lines, smile lines, chin wrinkles, pre-jowl folds, and fine lines that form in the edges of the lips. Radiesse is also designed to treat volume that is often lost with age in the hands to help them appear fuller and more youthful. You shouldn't receive this treatment if you have an allergy to lidocaine or other ingredients in Radiesse. Be sure to talk to your surgeon if you have any allergies (whether mild or severe) and any relevant medical history. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, might be pregnant, or are trying to conceive in the next several years, you shouldn't get Radiesse injections.

Procedure Technique

Radiesse wrinkle injections are performed in a treatment room at Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery in around 30 – 60 minutes once you have completed your consultation. To start the procedure, you will lay in a relaxed position as the injection sites are cleaned and marked. Many patients feel tolerable discomfort throughout the procedure at the first prick of the needle, but if preferred, a local anesthetic may be spread on the treatment sites. The Radiesse dose, determined during your consultation, will be placed in a fine needle. The pre-marked site of injection will help the injector to carefully administer Radiesse into the needed areas. As soon as the treatment is done, a compress will be held to the treated areas to reduce bruising and swelling.

What to Expect

Following your Radiesse injection, you may have mild redness, swelling, and bruising. This is normal and should last for around a week. These side effects may typically be camouflaged with cosmetics. If the bruising, swelling, or redness lasts longer than ten days or if you are concerned, please contact our center for further instruction. Many patients have visible results minutes after the treatment with final results appearing in a month or so. Your face will look softer, younger, and lifted. Radiesse typically lasts longer compared to other dermal fillers, with improvements for about 1 – 2 years. You can talk to your plastic surgeon at your appointment about how soon to get your next injection to touch up your results.
