Austin-Weston performs hundreds of facelift procedures each year. Do you desire a more youthful facial appearance? Our surgeons are nationally-recognized for innovative treatments and natural results.
This procedure can improve the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening muscles, and re-draping the skin of your face and neck. Although it can't stop the aging process, a facelift can make you look younger and fresher, and it may enhance your self-confidence. Other procedures done in conjunction may include a brow lift, eyelid surgery, neck lift surgery, and nose reshaping.
The best candidates for facelift surgery:
- Exhibit facial aging including loose skin, jowls and deep facial lines
- Have realistic expectations
- Desire a long-term, natural-looking solution
"Really great plastic surgery center. I only wanted a neck lift, but Dr. Weston wisely counseled me to have a full face lift. Concerned that it might just be padding the bill, I researched it and he was absolutely right. With just a lower face lift it would have been obvious I'd had plastic surgery. With the touches to my entire face even my own brother didn't realize I'd had a facelift, he just couldn't get over how great I looked. Dr. Weston respected completely my desire to be conservative. My only regret is that I didn't give him more of a free rein to do a bit more lifting and filling as he saw fit. That is on me though. Great doctor, great staff. I recommend Austin-Weston whole-heartedly."- S.D. / Yelp / Oct 27, 2017
"Dr. Sigal made me look so young with my awesome facelift. All my friends are stunned by how young I look! I loved everything about the experience - Dr. Sigal was fun, the staff was delightful, & everyone knew what they were doing. I'm going to be 66 & I don't look it. Thanks Dr. Sigal & everyone at the Austin-Weston Center!"- J.S. / Google / Dec 15, 2015
"For years I have been referring my patients and family members to Dr. Byron Poindexter at the Austin-Weston Center for Cosmetic Surgery, and following his surgeries, they ALL reported that they were ecstatic over the results. This year, I decided to do something about my face with which I was unhappy every time I looked in the mirror. I went to see Dr. Poindexter and after several consultations, I went ahead with his suggestion of "less is more." The results exceeded exceeded my expectation. Dr. Poindexter turned back the hands of time and reduced the menace of the years. His surgical artistry was remarkable and his "little bit here, little bit there , "" made all the difference in my appearance. He then turned me over to Ms. Savannah Marks, a Medical Esthetician and skincare specialist who erased the sun damage and the aged skin. I deeply thank Dr. Poindexter and Ms. Marks for their medical skill and artistry and the warm, friendly supportive care which they rendered. Michael ..... (Ashburn, VA)"- M.M. / Google / Dec 10, 2017
"changed my life - i had a facelift, chin implant, and"nose job"--results were spectacular."- Anonymous / Vitals / Dec 17, 2010
"Great surgeon with great attitude - Dr. Poindexter's chairside manner allows his patients to feel at ease and encourages trust. He has never pushed me to undergo any surgical or non surgical procedure, and has refused to perform any procedure he feels I don't need or would have negative results. When a friend told me that a different surgeon had insisted she needed a facelift instead of the filler she wanted, I encouraged her to..."- A. / RateMDs / Dec 28, 2017
What to Expect
Facelift surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure at our accredited surgical facility under general anesthesia. For patients wanting to stay overnight, we also have an overnight facility in our building with one-on-one nursing care.
A facelift incision typically begins in the hairline at the temples and continues in front of and then around the ear and ends in the lower scalp. Fat may be sculpted or redistributed from the face, jowls, and neck, and the underlying tissue is repositioned. Skin is re-draped over the uplifted contours and any excess skin is removed.
A second incision under the chin may be necessary to further improve an aging neck. Sutures or skin adhesives close the incisions. A bandage is placed on the patient’s face to minimize swelling and bruising.
Facelift surgery typically takes around four hours to complete.
There are many different marketing terms associated with a facelift including MACS lift, mini-faceilft and S-lift to name a few. All share the same general concept of using an incision in front of the ear to reshape an aging face. To find out which sort of procedure will best address your concerns, call our board-certified plastic surgeons at Austin-Weston.
After a facelift, a bulky gauze dressing will be placed over the surgical site to be worn the first night after surgery. It’s normal to experience some pain and discomfort, but a facelift is generally not a painful operation. Oral medication is used to manage discomfort and most patients are off medication by 2-3 days after surgery.
Swelling and bruising is present for 1-2 weeks after surgery. After about two weeks, most patients can resume normal activities like going back to work and working out. After about three weeks, patients are able to notice the dramatic and natural results of the surgery. Photographs are taken at 3 months when nearly all swelling has resided. While facelifts offer long term outcomes, it does not stop the natural aging process and we tell patients a good facelift should last from 7-10 years before there will be enough aging to consider a small touchup procedure.
