Rhinoplasty may be performed on female patients as young as 15 or males as young as 17. After a careful examine and evaluation, your board certified plastic surgeons at The Austin-Weston Center for Cosmetic Surgery will make a recommendation as to the proper course of action.

Depending upon the procedures performed, a splint may be applied to the nose to help maintain its shape. Soft plastic splints may be placed in your nostrils to stabilize the airway and are usually removed in five to seven days.

Rhinoplasty can be performed as an outpatient under general or twilight anesthesia and takes approximately less than two hours to complete. Rhinoplasty Recovery

For the first day following rhinoplasty surgery, patients should plan on taking it easy with the head elevated. Most patients can return to work or school within 7-10 days following surgery. Exercise and other strenuous activities may be resumed in about two weeks. It is important to avoid hitting or rubbing the nose for approximately eight weeks. It is recommended that patients limit their exposure to direct sunlight for the next two months.
