Rhinoplasty or nasal reshaping is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures at The Austin-Weston Center for Cosmetic Surgery. Nose surgery generally focuses on the removal of a large nasal hump or the narrowing of the nostrils to improve the shape and size of a patient’s nose. This may be done in conjunction with other Rhinoplasty or nose surgery procedures to achieve maximum facial balance. Your Austin-Weston Board-Certified Cosmetic Surgeon will evaluate the structure of your nose in relation to your face and discuss in detail your goals and desires.
Computer imaging may be helpful to you and your Austin-Weston Surgeon in determining the right size and shape of your nose. Factors that influence the final results include the structure of your nasal bones and cartilage, the shape of your face, the thickness of your skin, and your age. Cosmetic nose surgery may be performed on female patients as young as 15 or males as young as 17. After a careful examine and evaluation, the board certified plastic surgeons at The Austin-Weston Center for Cosmetic Surgery will make a determination as to the proper course of action. Depending upon the procedures performed, a splint may be applied to the nose to help maintain its shape. Soft plastic splints may be placed in your nostrils to stabilize the airway and are usually removed in five to seven days.
