Biography: Dr. Byron Poindexter, Plastic Surgeon |
While a senior in medical school, and among the top in his class at Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Byron Poindexter stumbled across the field of plastic surgery."I was a very intense student and was aiming toward a career in ophthalmology," Dr. Poindexter notes. "Because it was the most competitive field at the time, I thought it must be the best. Finally, I actually spent some time on an ophthalmology rotation and hated it." It was a "fill in" rotation with a local plastic surgeon in Indianapolis that unveiled the area of medicine that became his passion. "I loved the variety of operations and the uniqueness of each, but probably more important, I really enjoyed the patients - before and after the operations," he states. The uniqueness of each case and every individual truly plays into Dr. Poindexter's strong suites of problem solving, aesthetic focus and communication. Board Certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1999 shortly after going into practice, Dr. Byron Poindexter's focus with cosmetic surgery is in providing patients beautiful, balanced and natural results. He finds beauty in balancing not only outward proportions, but inner feelings with outer appearance.
