In past issues of our newsletter, we have gone in-depth into different or unique cosmetic surgery procedures. In this issue we have chosen to turn the focus on one particularly unique aspect of our own practice, 'The Power of Three.'The unique partnership of our three boardcertified plastic surgeons with the common drive to provide each patient with the best possible cosmetic surgery experience, leads to results beyond what any single one surgeon could achievefor you. Our patients essentially get the experience and expertise of three for the price of one. We constantly exchange ideas and brainstorm on different ways of approaching a surgical technique, always with the notion of improving our methods to benefit our patients. It is not a competitive situation as exists in many practices. “When one of us gets better, we all get better, the practice gets better, the patients look better and they refer more friends so we all get busier. Who could really argue with that?” quips Dr. Poindexter. There is even something beyond the sharing that comes from the power of three. Always knowing that there are two other great surgeons in the same facility to lend support and guidance builds a confidence for each doctor to perform every operation to his fullest potential and produce the best result possible.

Austin-Weston Event Supports Domestic Abuse Victims
On Saturday, May 7, The Austin-Weston Center brought 150 local women together for an afternoon of fun and education, while supporting victims of domestic violence. We hosted “A Celebration of Women” to benefit My Sister’s Place, a non-profit organization that supports victims of domestic abuse and their children in the Washington, D.C. area. The all-day event featured a charity gift boutique, makeup makeovers, a skin care center, fitness instruction, massage stations and computer imaging. One highlight of the day was the charity raffle in which multiple raffles offered fantastic prizes ranging from a night at the Ritz Carlton with massage to great wines, salon and spa gift certificates, massages, a horseback riding lesson and even a beautiful 1920’s vintage watch. More than $10,000 was raised this Mother’s Day weekend for My Sister's Place. Proceeds came from contributions from some of The Austin-Weston Center’s vendors as well as the profits from the gift boutique and raffle. We look forward to this becoming a larger event next year and raising more money for a worthy cause. For more information about domestic violence, or to learn how you can volunteer with My Sister’s Place, visit their website www.mysistersplacedc.org or call them at 202-529-5261.
Summer Skin Repair
The summer months are the time when we do most damage to our skin with sun exposure, wind damage and dehydration. We are ready to help you undo some of what the summer has done to your skin. A light chemical peel or microdermabrasion can remove the dead skin cells and allow for better penetration of products. Now is the perfect time to enhance your home regimen with a pampering facial. A hydrating facial with special enzymes help to nourish and replenish the skin cells. If you could use a new, customized skincare regimen or a treatment to repair your damaged skin, make an appointment to see our Medical Aesthetician, Wendy Canzanese, as soon as possible.
Austin-Weston Doctors Featured Nationally!
On shelves now at major bookstores across the country is NewBeauty magazine. This new publication is dedicated to the latest advances in plastic surgery, dermatology and
cosmetic dentistry. You can see our doctors featured prominently as well as see some of our patients featured as well. The publishers are so impressed by our center’s results
that they used three different before and after photographs (shown on the back of
this newsletter) to illustrate the results possible in facial cosmetic surgery.
